Waterproof flooring is engineered luxury vinyl. While waterproof capabilities and durability are the same, other things don't change. That includes maintenance!
It doesn't take much to keep your waterproof floors looking fresh and shiny–but that doesn't mean they never need some TLC! So, here are some tips to help you care for them.
Sweep regularly– and gently!
Use a soft, bristled brush or a dust mop. Sweep at least several times a week, but daily is best. The reason is that sand and dirt can scratch.
Even worse, it can embed, causing pitted floors. One of the nice things about waterproof vinyl flooring is that it’s soft, but dirt can create little indentations.
It then settles in those crevices and cracks. Trying to get the dirt out of a pitted floor can make life miserable. Trust us; you want to prevent it!
No need to scrub!
Easy does it! A microfiber mop is best, but anything you use should be soft and damp only. Use a gentle cleaner–no harsh chemicals are needed.
One of the best is one cup of apple cider or white wine vinegar to a gallon of hot water. Then, if you want, add a drop of dishwashing liquid. That'll keep your waterproof floors in Wautoma, WI, and Westfield, WI, looking great.
How to remove stubborn stains
Usually, a baking soda/water paste will do it. Try mineral spirits or a little nail polish remover if that doesn't work. Scuffs can be easily eliminated with some WD-40.
